Whether you’re new or returning, all volunteers must apply through FWISD each school year. This includes a background check to help keep our students safe. Once you’re approved, you’ll be ready to join us on campus to support teachers, students, and events.

Becoming a PTA member is one of the easiest ways to show your support for our school. Membership is just $12.00 per year, and it helps fund important programs, events, and resources for our students and teachers.
We meet once a month to share ideas, plan fun activities, and work together to make our school the best it can be. You don’t have to volunteer or attend every meeting—just by joining, you show that you care!

South Hills PTA Job Descriptions 25-26
Board Positions – Elected Officers
President – Leads the PTA, oversees all meetings, and ensures everything runs smoothly. Also checks the PTA email regularly and helps guide the big picture.
Vice President – Focuses on growing PTA membership and supports special projects like Honorary Life Membership. Represents your PTA at district-wide meetings and shares updates.
Secretary – Takes meeting notes and keeps PTA documents organized and stored in your online drive.
Treasurer – Manages the budget, keeps track of all funds, and helps oversee fundraising to support PTA goals.
Board Positions Approved by Board
Parliamentarian – Helps the board follow PTA rules and bylaws so meetings run smoothly and fairly. Acts as a guide for proper procedures.
Communications Chair/Leader – Manages the PTA website, social media, flyers, and newsletters. Helps share news and capture school events in photos.
Parent Programs & Outreach Chair/Leader – Partners with the school’s Family Engagement Specialist to support families, organize Room Parents, and plan events like Take Your Family to School Week.
Teacher Programs & Outreach Chair/Leader – Leads Teacher Appreciation Week efforts and helps plan hospitality events like staff meals and incentives.
Literacy Chair/Leader – Works with the school librarian to plan Scholastic Book Fair, maintain little free library, and support reading programs and Literacy Night.
Fine Arts Chair/Leader – Coordinates art-related programs, including the PTA Reflections contest and an Arts & Crafts Fair.
Healthy Lifestyles Chair/Leader – Supports health-focused events like Field Day and works with the school nurse and PE teacher to promote wellness.
Fundraising & Development Chair/Leader – Leads fundraising efforts and donation outreach. Helps with writing thank-you letters, grant proposals, and keeping donors informed.
Spirit Store Chair/Leader – Manages all things Wildcat gear! Organizes spirit wear sales and helps keep the school stocked with fun, school-branded merchandise.
Spring Fest Chair/Leader – Helps to plan and coordinate the Spring Carnival, including games, vendors, volunteers, and prizes. Helps make this favorite event fun for everyone.
Holiday Shop Chair/Leader – Organizes the Holiday Shop where students can buy small gifts for family and friends. Coordinates volunteers, sets up the shop, and makes it a fun, festive experience!
Classroom Delivery Chair/Leader – Coordinates special deliveries like Boo Grams, Val-o-grams, Birthday Grams, and class party treats. Helps bring smiles straight to the classroom!
